In the image of our footballing founder, Ambassador George Weah, we present to the people of Liberia this football academy which we hope will honour the greatness of Liberia's greatest ever footballing product. George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah was born on October 1, 1966, in the slums of Monrovia, Liberia. Raised by his grandmother after his parents split up, Weah grew up on the streets of one of the city's worst slums. Fortunately, he developed into a tall, athletic teenager, and began playing soccer for the Young Survivors youth club at 15.
At 22, George Weah was discovered by Cameroon national team coach Claude Le Roy, who relayed news of Weah's abilities to AS Monaco manager Arsène Wenger. Wenger flew to Africa to get a look for himself, and then signed Weah to his club.
Our Academy is here to develop the next generation of George Weah's to take Liberian football to the top!
We will be working with the next generation of Liberian youngsters to develop and hone their skills and then provide a professional platform for them to receive the best academic and sporting education possible to deliver for the participants. Then, we will be providing a full platform to ensure that the world's best clubs see this as the premier destination to be scouted from to make their careers at the highest levels in world football.
